Obituary of Amy E. Weissend
AMY E. WEISSEND
11/27/1963 – 06/22/2024
Amy's very short but courageous battle with cancer has concluded, while surrounded by her loving family.
Amy was pre-deceased by her parents Bruce and Betty Weissend and her nephew Mike Weissend.
She is survived by her siblings: John (Cheryl) Weissend (AZ); Charlie (Cindy) Weissend, (Schenectady); Norma Weissend (Guy McLean), Canandaigua; Andy (Lynn) Weissend (VA); Mary (Marty) Nichols (VA); Patrick (Peggy) Weissend (Corfu); Mark (Lisa) Weissend (PA); 17 nieces and nephews (Shawn, BJ, Jeff, Sara, Crystal, Heidi, Mary, Hannah, Jack, Laura, Clara, Wiley, LeAnne, Megan, Adam, Kate, and Anna), 14 grand-nieces and nephews (Liz, Ava, Parker, Aubrey, AJ, Jaxson, Liam, JJ, Trip, Cooper, River, Harper, Peter, and Lachlan), and a multitude of many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, and good friends.
Amy grew up in Victor/Farmington and graduated from Victor Central in 1983. She lived most of her adult life in Canandaigua, only recently in the Sea Breeze area of Rochester. Amy was a graduate of Finger Lakes Community College. She loved volunteering, especially at the Ontario County Arts Council and Wood Library. She volunteered in so many other organizations.
Amy was fiercely independent and let you know her opinion on just about anything. Her friendliness and willingness to help anyone made her a beloved character up and down Main Street.
Amy loved all of her nieces and nephews and was very devoted to each and every one of them. She could often be spotted with one of them in tow as she made her rounds in downtown Canandaigua.
Her dry sense of humor, inherited from her father, made everyone laugh. Her steadfast determination, inherited from her mother, gave her the will to conquer many of the battles that she faced, including her final one.
Despite all the challenges life threw at her, she had an indomitable spirit. She knew what she wanted and went after it. Life was hard for her, but she always rose to any occasion and made lemonade out of lemons. Her sense of humor was larger than life and her ability to rise above her challenges was an inspiration.
She will be profoundly missed by her family and so many friends.
