Obituary of Noma A. Kent

Reminiscent of an artist’s pallet, the beauty of Canandaigua is truly unsurpassed… a small piece of heaven some say. And, as those seasons of color fade from the spruce and maple and Northwest gusts chill the air, even the joyous of hearts are met with the realization that winter’s time has come — that blankets of snow will fade the very color of life that makes Canandaigua so spectacular. In a brightly lit room with nimble fingers Noma carefully crafted her vision of life — interlocking loops of yarn to create joy without knots. There was a rhythm of the needles and her fingers working in concert with one another that warmed the hearts of all, but Reg’s especially. It was a constant reminder to him of how beautiful she truly was. From the moment he set eyes on her at the O’Dell’s New Year’s Eve Party 49 years ago, Reg knew he would always be by her side… He loved her love of life… and that love was abundant. Noma’s love was felt by the students she worked with first as a Note Taker for those that were hearing impaired and then as a Teachers Aide, by those who gathered at Gleaners Community Kitchen, through her work as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and in her church and Bible study classes. Yes, those loops of love, row after row, created a blanket that warmed Canandaigua and brought back the warmth and color stolen away by winter’s fury. On January 13th, Noma Alice Kent, loving wife, mother and sister, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven. Born on July 6th, 1949 to the late Clifford and Lola Robison, Noma is survived by her sister Lois Niethe, her husband Reg and their three children Jonathan (Kristy), Abigail and Nathan (Samantha), as well as six grandchildren: Jonathan, Daniel, Jane, Juliet, Wade and Grace. Winters will come and go in Canandaigua, but the love that Noma brought to the lives she touched will always remain and the blanket of life that she created will continue to spread love and warmth to all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Noma to the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity, 3040 Co. Calling hours will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 100 North Main St. Canandaigua NY on Friday, January 19 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M.
