Obituary of Norman W. Duscher

Norman William Duscher Norman W. Duscher passed away on Friday November 10, 2023, at his home. Norm was determined to stay independent and care for himself up until his death. He was assisted by the Ontario Yates hospice. He was born in the town of Tonawanda, NY, and was the son of Joseph and Ella Duscher. Norm grew up in a large family, one of eight children. Norm was a deep thinker and even as a child was known to read the yearly almanac from cover to cover. Norm also loved the outdoors; he was a conservationist and lover of trees and all nature. Norm joined the Marine Corps, which had a profound positive impact on his life. He was a sergeant and always said the Marines did more for him than he could ever have done for them. After a service in the Marines, Norm married Kathleen Ella O’Donnell, and was a very devoted husband and cared for her until her passing on November 19, 2015. Norm and Kathy had two children, Kathleen Jo Hoey (married to James Hoey, now de- ceased) and Joseph Norman Duscher (married to Susan Duscher). They also had two grandchildren, Christine Marie Davila (great grandchildren Sofia & Lucas) and Carrie Jayne Hoey. Norm also embraced his two step-grandchildren, Heather Ferrante and Robert Bujak, and their children. Norm's career was in the trucking industry. He and Kathy established, and ran Straight Transportation Inc., which was a successful northeast trucking company until they both retired. Norm's activities included friends of Wood Library, the AARP, and dearest to his heart, the Grief Support group held at Crosswinds Church in Canandaigua, NY. The group, led by Denise McKenzie, was a great comfort to Norm. Towards the end of his life Norm embraced a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and spent many hours studying the Bible. Norm was well loved by family and friends, and his life had a positive impact on many people! To honor Norman’s wishes, there will be no remembrance gathering or service.
