Joseph A. Matrone
Joseph A. Matrone of Farmington, NY, passed away on July 25, 2019. Born on April 29, 1942, Joe was the son of Anthony and Giovanna Matrone of Batavia, NY.
A 1960 graduate of Batavia High School and a 1965 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, Joe served in the United States Army Reserve’s 817th Evacuation Hospital for six years.
Joe worked as cost accountant for Sylvania Home Entertainment Products in Batavia, and then as a logistics manager for Kraft/General Foods in Avon, NY, from 1969-1996.
In retirement, Joe as a volunteer with Ontario County Meals on Wheels, where he served over 3,000 meals over seven years. He was also active with the Victor-Farmington Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the St. Patrick’s Church food pantry in Macedon, NY. Joe was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the game of golf.
Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ann Lyons Matrone, daughter Kate DeVagno and husband Mike of Newton, MA, and son AJ Matrone and wife Angie Caley of Chatham, VA, and two granddaughters.
Other family members include sister Audrie Moyer and husband Walt of Cicero, NY, sister Sharon Andrews and late husband Donald of Wallkill, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Friday, August 16, 2019 from 6-8pm at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 17, 2019, 10am, at St. Mary’s Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY.
