Joe was a wonderful friend. Having Anne and him for neighbors was truly a gift. Be it while golfing, gardening, shoveling snow or just in passing by, Joe always had a smile to give.
I have always treasured the friendship we shared.

I am so sorry to hear this news about Joe. I have many childhood memories of him as my family lived in the apartment below the Matrones for many years.Tony was my Mothers 1st cousin. My fondest memory of us children is playing in the sandbox. We had so many Very fun times. I'm so sad to hear this news. My heartfelt condolences to all of the Matrone family. A special hug to Audrey and Sharon. .

One of many things that come to mind when I think of my dad are the photos. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of photos — all out of order, all in mismatched photo albums — of him smiling, laughing, thoroughly enjoying the time with his sisters, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, parents, wife, children, and grandchildren. Sometimes he was cheating at Pictionary, many times he was telling a story, always he was smiling. Out of all of the photos to choose from, I know this one was one of his favorites — he mentioned it often, his granddaughter throwing her head back in pure enjoyment as Grandpa drove her around in his mustang with the top down. That is how I will remember my dad, in this and many of those pictures, living life to the fullest. I love and miss you already Dad; I hope, wherever you are, you’re riding with the top down.

Joe I will miss you and the fun we had on the golf courses we played. I will also miss the "garage" chats that we had on many mornings at your St. Augustine residence. We attempted to solve the many problems of the world and ourselves. Those memories will be with me always. I hope St. Peter greeted you with a brand new dozen Noodle golf balls. You were a true friend. May you rest in peace.
