Dear Family,
Your father, grandfather, and our friend Ike was a pillar in the community and caring soul to all that knew him. He was a classmate of my Aunt Zelinda Ventura who is also 93 and lives in Rochester, NY. Ike was a pleasure to know and be around. Growing up in Manchester, I always knew where the Moses home was and often looked to see both Mary and Ike. We're sad to learn of his passing and pray for his peaceful journey home to his wife Mary and son Richie. May his memory live with us always and forever.

Dear Moses family,
Last night in the Daily Messenger, I read the sad news of Ike's death. Please know that I feel privileged to have been a neighbor of your family and a welcomed guest in your father's home. Every visit seemed electric with exciting family activity and so inviting to all the kids who trooped in to hang out with one or all of the Moses siblings.
I remember Ike's expansive garden; so big it seemed like a farm to me. And I remember your father as an exceptional family man. Certainly a model for which all of us should aspire.
With warmest regards and sympathy,
Coleen (O'Donnell) Avery and Stan Avery

Ike was a great guy. I saw him at Winged Pheasant several times and he always spoke and had a smile on his face. I know the loss is difficult, but now he and your mom are together again holding hands and watching over you all. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

First I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to the many members of the Moses Family.
As the Town of Manchester Historian I have... perhaps... lost my greatest resource in Ike Moses.
Sir Isaac, as I referred to him often was a 20th century Renaissance man. I image if he read this from heaven he would send lightning bolts my way and set me straight. He had a way with little philosophical zingers, like Will Rogers that would wake you up like those dry Manhattans he spent sipping on his front porch. You see, in baseball you have Yogism's but in Manchester you had Ikeism's.
Though I cannot remember all of his quotes I do know some Ike Moses history.
As a young boy in the early 1930's Ike's mother would send him to the Sanitarium farm outside of Clifton Springs (a round trip of 10 miles) for two buckets of giblets for giblet pie. Ike informed me that this ritual led him to becoming a superb runner. Of course I questioned the running part when Ike interrupted me and completed the story. He told me after he left the farm with the two buckets filled to the brim he had to tip toe by this one house where a coon hound would be sleeping on the porch. He then told me a gust of wind from the west would send the aroma of giblets to the critters nose thus chasing him all the way to the outlet bridge. He then said with a grin..."That's how I became County Sprint Champion!"
From family man to dedicated railroad man, from WWII combat veteran to St. Louis Cardinal minor league player, from his incredible victory garden to being a beloved citizen of Manchester...Ike will Forever Be Special!
It is often during this time of year I watch one of my favorite movies... "It's a Wonderful Life."
For Ike Moses it was 93 years of a WONDERFUL LIFE!!!
I shall miss you Sir Isaac.
God Bless!

Ike was a truly a member of "America's Generation". A man of values, willing to sacrifice for his Country, love of family, love of God and hard work were obviously his credentials. We will remember the special man that he was and he will continue to be in our minds and hearts.
