Obituary of Charles F. Congdon

Charles F. Congdon, (Chuck), Age 60, of Canandaigua, New York, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, at Strong Memorial Hospital. Charles F. Congdon was born in Hornell, New York to Father Charles Congdon Sr. and Mother Doris Congdon (Whalen), of Hornell on October 20, 1964. He went to Hornell High School where he graduated in 1982. He joined the United States Marine Corps from 1982 to 1986, and then Joined the United States Army Reserves from 1986 to 1989 with an Honorable Discharge. He went on to earn an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Finger Lakes Community College. He worked in Buildings and Grounds Maintenance for Finger Lakes Community College for 23 years, from 1989 to 2012. Charles married his wife Colleen A. Congdon (Hyland), on July 28, 1990. He enjoyed coaching, camping, golfing, hunting, listening to old classic country music and spending time with his family. Charles is survived by his wife Colleen A. Congdon of 34 year, Canandaigua New York. Son Zachary Congdon, Kaelin Congdon Penfield, New York, and Daughter Marissa Congdon, along with granddaughter Emma Cancilla of Canandaigua, Brother Jerry Congdon and wife Petra of Middlesex New York, and Sister Karen Travis (Congdon), Husband Jimbo Travis of Hornell New York, along with several, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his Parents Charles Sr. and Doris Congdon. Calling Hours will be held at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo Street Canandaigua, NY. 14424 on December 14, 2024, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Immediately following will be a Military Grave Side Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, 130 North Pearl Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424. He was involved in the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign, for several years.
