Obituary of Rudolf W. van der Velden

Rudolf "Rudy" Wilhelm Dorus van der Velden, born March 28, 1944, in The Hague, Holland, passed away peacefully on Labor Day, September 2, 2024, at Thompson Hospital. Rudolf, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, was known for his warmth, kindness, and dedication to his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Diana DeLano van der Velden; their son, David van der Velden and his wife, Jena, of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; and three cherished grandchildren, Sophie Grace, Jessa Marie, and Cole Thomas. Rudolf also leaves behind his sister, Edna, and her husband, Harry Merrill; a niece, Jeanette, and nephews; Jason Merrill and Nathan Merrill, along with their families. He is remembered fondly by his Bogman cousins in Holland and by John and Beverly Baker and their family in Cambridge, England. Rudy will be dearly missed by his many friends and family who will remember him for his generosity and unwavering spirit. A 1pm memorial service will be held Saturday, September 7 at Farmington Friends Church, 187 Co Rd 8, Farmington, NY 14425 to celebrate his life and legacy.
