Obituary of Gary L. Towner Jr.

Gary Towner, Jr., age 43, born on June 15, 1980, passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2023, at his home in Canandaigua NY. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Alyssa Towner; four children, Aubree Towner (12 yrs.), Landon Towner (10 yrs.), Lydia Towner (6 yrs.) and Briana Madden (22 yrs.); Samuel Sweeny and grandson Carson; mother, Cheryl Towner, of Dansville, NY; sister, Christina Roth (Nicholas); grandmother, Dorothy Gayhart, four nephews, Collin, Caleb, Elijah, and Keegan; several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family members; father and mother in-law, Karen (Greg) Vetter. His wife, family members and those he came into contact with, would sum his character as a loving family man who always placed his wife and kids above all else. He had a love for all children and was the first to include them as his own. Always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. His voice was loud and booming, but his heart, gentle and kind. Everyone thought of him as big teddy bear (Everybody’s Gare bear). He gave the best hugs, with his laughter bringing joy to those around him. Gary was very passionate about his love for supped up cars. He loved to tinker, especially with his Subaru WRX. He was predeceased by his father, Gary Towner Sr.; grandfather, Donald Gayhart, of Dansville, NY and father in-law, Michael Cancilla Sr., of Springwater, NY. Gary will be greatly missed by all! Friends may call Friday, September 15, from 2-4 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 4 PM memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
