Obituary of Casey D. Bloom
Casey David Bloom
1988 -2023
Casey Bloom passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2023.
Casey was born on March 23, 1988, to David & Anne (McCallum) Bloom in Canandaigua.
Casey was a huge presence in the music scene in Canandaigua, Rochester and Buffalo in addition to playing nationally and internationally. He was a proficient guitar player as well as a multi-instrumentalist who could play the piano, mandolin, banjo, drums, bass guitar and the ocarina. He was a member of many area bands including Workingman's Dead, Bluebird Hill, Tracks in the Dust, Evening's Empire, LCJ Trio, Fire Wheel, Mudruum, Bloom-Carter, PA Line, Ditch Diggers, Casey Bloom & John Bloom, Dark Side of the Bloom, In the Box, as well as many whom we may have forgotten. He was known for hosting open mic nights which were always well attended. He performed at many music festivals, and was a guest artist playing with Max Creek, Dark Star Orchestra, Unlimited Devotion, Danny Mills & the Wet Specimens, and Stu Allen & Mars Hotel. He was always the first to volunteer for charity events giving willingly his time and talent. His contribution to the music scene will live on in the hearts of all.
Casey loved his life and his friends. He was always available to help anyone who needed it and was a listening ear for those in times of trouble. As a result, he made many lifelong, lasting friendships. He was also a teacher, mentoring aspiring musicians. He took great joy sharing his musical knowledge and made himself available no matter how busy his life had become. As a result, he helped many others achieve their dreams. He was an avid gamer who loved playing video games so much he learned a foreign language in order to beat the game. He was also interested in philosophy, history, computer science, economics, and he always loved a good political discussion. He was a sucker for a cute kitten, owning many cats throughout his life. He was also well known for his quick wit and wicked sense of humor.
During his life Casey was especially close to his sister Kari and brother Dylan. He was as fiercely protective of them as they were of him. They were always together sharing the good times as well as enduring the bad. The three of them shared an unbreakable bond that will transcend his passing.
Casey is survived by his father Dave (Sherry) Bloom, his mother Anne Potter, his wife Jessica and their children Zoey and Luna, his siblings Kari and Dylan, step siblings Carrie, Mary, Jamie, Kristen and Jake, and many treasured aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved grandmother Michele McCallum. She was always his biggest fan and she loved him unconditionally.
Casey was predeceased by his stepmother Peg (Persson) Bloom and his stepfather Steve Potter.
