Obituary of Marilyn O. Burnett
Marilyn Olive Burnett passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2023, at age 92.
She was born in Rochester, NY on July 2, 1931, to Hiram and Madeline Schicker Johnson Burnett and grew up as the youngest of 4 sisters; Arline Johnson Clark, Shirley Johnson Strickland and Patricia Burnett Gunter. She later moved to Naples, NY where she spent most of her life. Marilyn spent several years in the convent in Buffalo, 16 years as a middle school teacher at Holy Family School in Rochester, had a career with the United States Postal Service and had many other business ventures.
Marilyn is survived by many friends, nieces and nephews. She was fond of and spoiled her two Shih Tzu's, Shelley and Shawn. Marilyn was especially grateful for the friendship, love and care she received from Donald and Donna Fox and family over the years.
Marilyn's legacy will live on forever through the many funny and witty stories she told, always making others laugh, no matter the circumstances. Most importantly, Marilyn had a huge and generous heart and would stop at nothing to help others.
She had a deep religious love of God and is now in heaven with her sisters, friends, Shelley and Shawn.
