Dear Leah and family,
I am so very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I was just talking to him in the driveway and signing the petition. Such a shock. What a great guy. He will be so missed in the community of East Lake View. A true force of nature.
Regrettably I will not be able to attend the service on Thursday. You all have my sincerest condolences.

Dear Leah, Mike, Lisa, Tom and John.
I'm so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I have vivid memories of him when we visited your beautiful home in Spencerport, and on the trips to visit (Grandma/Aunt) Vera in Florida. Your family was so full of spirit, and Jim was an amazing father - funny, smart, kind, fearless.
Much support to you all as you go through this difficult time.
All my best,
Nancy Rampson

Dear Leah and Family,
We are so very sorry for your loss (and ours too). Jim was such a warm and friendly neighbor; we will miss running into him on our walks, with a wonderful smile, sparkle in his eye, always with leash in hand, and kind word. We will forever be thankful for him and Chelsea volunteering to search for our house cat who ran off into the deep woods. It is so hard to believe we won’t be seeing him around most everyday… however his spirit is still greatly felt as we walk through the neighborhood ❤️ Mark & Diane Goergen

Leah and family, so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. He really was a remarkable person, educator and advocate for learners. I worked with Jim for ten years in Rochester, six as the Superintendent. Jim was a major player in all our strategic planning efforts. He brought analysis, stakeholder inclusion, community engagement and public presentation clarity to all our work. A consummate professional, but a real personable, giving, concerned public servant… and advocate for social justice. I learned so much from Jim, and carried those learnings, in my work, for the next thirty years. I think of him often and will remember him… always.

Dear Leah and family. So sorry to hear of Jim's passing.. Bill and I have many happy memories of the two of you in Rochester when Jim and Ruth worked at Central Office in the Rochester City School District together. We also cherish our memory of reconnecting with Lisa and her work at CCFL. We (the four of us) spent many good times together solving the problems of the world and the school district. Jim was such a great professional whose heart was clearly in supporting children ( as well as with his family) with whom he worked and about the work structure we planned to support student creativity and growth in problem solving. Jim and Ruth enjoyed working with Josh Lofton and other groups in group dynamics and team building as well. May you all be blessed with your memories together; laughter and joys shared . You are in our prayers and thoughts.
Ruth and Bill Scott (Rochester, NY)

Ruth and Bill, It is lovely to hear from you, and thank you for your thoughtful words and condolences. My Mom will reach out to you, but I told her you posted to my Dad’s tribute wall. And she was touched. I hope you and your family are well! With affection, Lisa

Dear Leah, I was very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. Although I had not seen Jim in many years, it could not diminish the closeness of our college days relationship nor my deep fondness and admiration for him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and family at this time. Gary

Dear Leah, Lisa, Tom, Mike and John, I´m heartily sorry for your loss. I always felt so welcome in your family, from the very first visit at Brockport in 1980, when I was a foreign student from Sweden. I remember Jim as strong, warm and always with a humouros generous perspective on whatever was going on.
Here is a part of a swedish poem by Erik Lindegren.
"Arioso"
Somewhere within us we are always together,
somewhere within us our love can never escape
Somewhere oh somewhere
all the trains have gone and the clocks stopped;
somewhere within us we are always here and now, we are always you
next to confusion and confusion,
are we suddenly wonder and transformation,
breaking sea wave, rose fire and snow.."

Dear Lee, Rob and Farrell Kids -
Jim represented the ultimate in what it meant to be an Irish Farrell. He was so proud of his ancestry and he had that Irish wit, Irish intelligence, Irish commitment to what's right, and big-time Irish personality.
He will be missed more than words can say BUT we know his entry into Heaven was met with great applause. The angels are, no doubt, still enjoying the joy and hilarity he has brought to them.
Bob joins me in sending tremendous love and sympathy to all of you.
Marilynn (his proud cousin)

Although we didn’t interact a lot over the years, every time we did it was clear that Jim was inquisitive, thoughtful, kind and encouraging. That influence on others will carry on, but he will be missed dearly.
