Obituary of George Thomas Esterheld

George T. Esterheld, 76, of Farmington NY, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023 at Rochester General Hospital from heart failure. He was predeceased by his father, George E. Esterheld, and his mother, Margaret (McCoy) Esterheld. He leaves behind his wife, Jane Wilber, his daughter, Janna Dendievel (Ryan), three granddaughters, several cousins, and his cat, Squeaker. After graduating from McQuaid Jesuit High School in 1964, George went on to study botany at an array of colleges, including LeMoyne College, SUNY Brockport, St. John Fisher College, and MCC, to name a few. George was passionate about education and in an ideal world, would have been a student-for-life. George owned a couple of small businesses in his life, including his bar, Wertz, and Paul's Grocers, where he met his wife, Jane. He spent nearly 4 decades working at USPS in Henrietta, NY and always spoke fondly of his work "cronies". George said he would be at the post office until the day he died and he managed to stay on the payroll through the end of this May, something he would get a kick out of. George was a connoisseur of many things and took pleasure in sharing his tid-bits of knowledge with anyone who would listen. He was always givin' ya a hard time and loved a good joke. He read his newspapers from front to back every day and when he found a particularly funny comic or interesting article, he would clip it out and share it. George took pride in his yard, which he had made into his personal forest oasis. And most of all, over the years, George had many feline friends that kept him company. A burial memorial will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Friday, June 23rd at 11 am followed by a celebration of life at his daughter's house in East Rochester.
