Obituary
Obituary of Shawn Tyler Spoon
Shawn Tyler Spoon was born November 19, 2008.
Shawn was smart beyond his 14 years and showed particular love for science and music. He was tall, taller than his mom. He had a soft smile, a kind comforting heart and curly brown hair that hung in front of his freckled face and brown eyes. He enjoyed creating songs on his keyboard, learning how to play others from YouTube, building forts and playing video games online with so many of his friends. He wanted to be a meteorologist. An avid stargazer, who at a golf camp was caught in the middle of the night having a peek at the dark sky because he needed a look without the ambient light. He also loved Legos, Star Wars, and Star Wars Legos!
More than anything, he loved spending time with his mom and family. Sitting at the table scarfing down waffles or Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast. Badminton. Going to Atlantic Beach or Shackleford Banks and searching for the perfect seashell, standing in the ocean, dancing with the waves, getting buried up to his neck in the sand, finding sand crabs and playing with his dog Rocco. Making pizza for dinner and always putting olives on his fingers before on the pie. Uno. Badminton. Mickey Mouse ice cream dessert bars. Badminton. Snacks. Badminton. There were no better nights than the ones spent gazing straight up at the night sky and seeing the biggest meteor shower of the year in the backyard with his mom.
Shawn is survived by his mother Kris Schmitt, stepfather Dave Schaeffer, his Aunt Steffi and Uncle Tim, his great aunt and great uncles, cousins, June Castle and Bill, Brooke and Jeff D'Amico, Deanna Castle and many, many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Amelia Grove April 30th in New Bern, North Carolina at 4:30pm.
