Obituary of Betty P. Vecchi
Betty P. Rhodes Vecchi
August 27, 1925 - December 2, 2022.
Betty Vecchi, aged 97, passed away peacefully at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center on Friday, December 2. Prior to a recent short stay at the C.C.C., she enjoyed residence at Quail Summit Senior Living Facility for several years.
She is survived by three daughters, Pamela (Skip) Hoose, Diana McGrory and Rena (Eric) Lane, four grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Hoose, Alex McGrory, Allie and Emily Cumming, four great grandchildren, Ryan (Aundrea) Hoose, Taylor, Carson and Joy Hoose, her sister, Margaret (Bill) Axtel, granddaughter-in-law Jill Hoose, sisters-in-law Eva (Vecchi) Aldrich, Laura (Vecchi) (Sal) Cristofano and Anita (Vecchi) Herz and a host of multi-generational nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Renato "Ray" Vecchi, daughter Dr. Linda (Mark) Cumming, granddaughter, Mandy Hoose, sisters-in-law Rita (Vecchi) Palumbo and Elda (Vecchi) Kurzejeski.
Betty was born and raised in England where, during WW II, she and Renato met. They married at the end of the war and she came to her new home in the U.S.A. to
Canandaigua as Renato's bride. Together they owned and operated Vecchi's Bakery & Grocery on Lake Shore Drive where they lived and raised their family. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She traveled extensively with family, sharing special times across the U.S and internationally. To Ray she was his cherished partner in all his endeavors. To her daughters, she was "Mom", their constant support throughout their lives. To grand and great grandchildren, she was "Nanny", always in their corner. She truly was the backbone of the family.
Betty Vecchi was a beautiful person, outwardly and inwardly.
She will remain in the hearts and memories of all who hold her dear.
