Obituary of Patricia A. Olszewski
Patricia Ann Glisson Olszewski
August 11, 1946 - September 5, 2022
Patsy entered into the Lord's heavenly kingdom surrounded by her loving family at her side. Patsy was born in Alexandria, VA and was the daughter of the late Benjamin Glisson, Jr. (of Ellabell, GA) and the late Mabel Virginia Florence (of Alexandria, VA). She is survived by her husband, Joseph Valentine Olszewski after 53+ years of marriage and her son Jason B. Olszewski of Flintstone, GA and daughter Renee L. Olszewski of Cranston, R.I., her sister Betty J. Glisson (Matt Galvin) of Holly Springs, NC as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She attended J.E.B Stuart High School in Falls Church, VA. She graduated from Averett College in Danville, VA, the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY and SUNY at Geneseo, NY with a Master's in Education. She also had a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from New York State.
As a younger woman, she worked on Capitol Hill in Washington DC and various other jobs in the Northern Virginia area. After marriage, she moved to the Ryukyu Islands (Okinawa) to join her husband and taught at the Pacific Middle School for the Department of Defense. Upon return to the United States, she taught school at various locations in PA and NY. For the last 20 years she was employed at the Red Jacket Community Library in Shortsville, NY.
Patsy had a passion for reading and enjoyed spending time knitting, crocheting and sewing as well as gardening. Her favorite shows were Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was loved by and enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling around the world. She was a caring person and will be remembered for her gentle personality and warm smile.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, NY. Calling hours will be Friday September 16, 2022 at 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday September 17, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the Lifespring Community Church, 5026 North Road, Canandaigua, NY 14424. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, 130 North Pearl St., Canandaigua, NY will follow immediately after the church service. All family and friends are invited to the grave site service and a luncheon at the Lifespring Community Church immediately following. It is requested that donations, in leu of flowers be made to the Red Jacket Community Library, Shortsville, NY.
