Obituary of David B. Dorrough

David Dorrough died peacefully March 16, 2022, at Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua, NY where he enjoyed loving care and lively socialization for the past year of his life. He was born to Bruce and Julia (Kish) Dorrough in Dayton, Ohio. He lived in Ohio most of his life, graduating from Techumseh High School and Wittenberg University where he pursued his love of music. Late in his life he moved to New York to be near his brother, Daniel Dorrough. Family and friends were very important to David. He deeply mourned the death of his parents, his sister, Becky Dorrough Dement, his niece Amanda Clabaugh, and nephew Matthew Clabaugh as well as dear friends Patty Garret and Kevin Frizzel. He lovingly cared for his mother, spending as much time as he could with her and managing her affairs the final years of her life. Even as his mind and body failed, his link to the world was phone calls to "the cousins" and his lifelong friend, Brad Schock. David was an effective problem solver, "fiddling persistently" with an issue until it was resolved. Nothing pleased David more than to make someone smile or improve their day a little. Many a wait staff were delighted by a generous tip from David after he had dined with them. He always said, "Be sure that the kitchen staff gets some on that." There will be no memorial service.
