Obituary of Barbara T. Kincaid

Barbara "Barb" Thurston Kincaid, 87, passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2022 in Rochester, NY. Born in Rochester, NY, April 5th 1934, Barb was the oldest of her parent's children. She prided herself on her abilities to be a homemaker, a fisher woman, an animal lover, and a pig wrangler through her younger years. Once in high school, she took on cheerleading and met her, later, husband, Jack Kincaid. Barb worked at Kodak as a secretary immediately after high school, awaiting Jack's return from serving in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Once he returned, they married and began their own family. Jack's job with Xerox took the family across the country to California, where they lived for many years. They eventually retired in Etowah, NC. Jack and Barb then returned to upstate New York to live out the rest of their days. Barbara will be remembered for her humor, strength, generosity, sassy one-liners, courage, her amazing hugs and always living as her complete and authentic self. She was never afraid to try something new, get dirty, put someone in their place, or stand up for those who had no one else. She was always the first one to arrive and the first one to quietly leave. She made sure everyone always felt comfortable when they were around her, even if that meant adjusting her thermostat several times during an evening visit. Wherever she was, there was always an abundance of love. Predeceased by her parents, husband, John C., daughters; infant Mary Beth and Nancy Kincaid Dunster, son; John T. and grandson; John (Jake) Dunster. Survived by sisters; Georgina Tobias, Gates, and Deanna (Harold) Murphy, Canandaigua, loving caretaker, and niece; Jackie Preston, Canandaigua, grandchildren; JC (Portia) Kincaid, CA, Nathan (Amy), MD, Katherine, NC, and Wesley Dunster, MN; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends. There are no calling hours, and a private memorial service will be held at the family's convenience.
