Obituary of Darwin D. Dillon

Canandaigua- Darwin "Matt" Dillon, age 74, passed away peacefully at Strong Memorial Hospital on January 25, 2022. He is survived by three children, daughter, Amie (Jeff ) Blakesley; his two stepsons, Michael Hines and Robert (Danielle) Hines; seven grandchildren, Jadah, Cameron, Lana, Deven, Aubrey, Caylee and Robert; one great-grandson; Kai David; a special friend and sister-in-law, Anna Dillon, Laverne (Corkey) Dillon; brother and half-brother, Larry (Valerie) Tears; as well as several nieces in nephews. Predeceased by his parents, William and Nora Dillon; brother, Lavern "Corky" Dillon and nephew, Norman Dillon. Darwin was born in Penn Yan and moved to Clifton Springs. He graduated from Clifton Springs High School and soon after joined the U.S Navy, where he spent 4 years on a nuclear submarine. After his time in the Navy he worked at Hemendale Farms in Seneca Castle, Wegmans as a butcher and then at the VA Hospital in Canandaigua, as a firefighter. Darwin also volunteered as a firefighter EMT at Shortsville Fire Department. He had a love for Syracuse Basketball and NASCAR. Friends may call Friday, February 4, from 4-6 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 6 PM memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
