Obituary of Bruce E. Deal

Bruce Deal, 90, went to be with his precious Savior on November 10th, 2020. It was a beautiful sunny day. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years Barbara, his children, Cynthia VanNorman (Mike), Harold (Debbie), Eldon (Patty Jackson), and Kevin (Sandy). He found great joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren; grandchildren, Rachael Hoff-Bray (Jason), Michael Vetter (Beth), Janelle, Shawna, and Allyssa Priddy (Marc), and his great grandchildren Nicholas, Marcus, Lucas, Evelyn, Mason, Randi, Ally, Dylan, and Ayden. Also survived by his cherished sisters Gail Bogart and Kay Krupcznski, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Frances Deal, and sisters Elsie Deal and Carol DeCann. There will be a private family celebration of his life at the graveside in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo on November 17th at 2:00 p.m. Bruce never waivered in his belief that he would go to a better place when he died, as he believed Jesus died for his sins, the message of John 3:16. He was a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon in the church, Church Treasurer, Jail Ministries Missionary, a Tract Ministry, and professed his faith daily and proudly. These works were not the path to heaven, but an expression of his faith and a chance to help others. We believe he has helped lead many people to Christ over the years - of all his accomplishments, this would mean the most to him. Bruce was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the 1950’s in the elite 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He would tell you that this job was being paid to have fun and loved to tell stories about his time in the service. He always enjoyed sharing his Army photos with anybody that was interested. Bruce graduated from Waterloo High School. He went into basic training, then came back up to New York to marry his sweetheart in 1951, taking her back down to North Carolina. Barbara was his world and you would hardly ever visit him without hearing how much he loved her. After spending some time in the Waterloo area after his time in the service, Bruce and Barbara settled in Manchester where they raised their 4 children. They have lived in Manchester and gone to the same church for 55 years, Lifespring Community Church (formerly Canandaigua Baptist Church) in Canandaigua, N.Y. Bruce worked at Westplex in Manchester for the last 30 years of his career and loved being a draftsman there. Having lost his right hand in a machine accident at Gould’s Pumps in the 1950’s, he learned to be a draftsman and drew drawings with his left hand. Those drawings were a work of art. He proved that you will adapt and do what you need to do to feed your family and we are all very proud of him. Bruce was confident of where he would go when he died He is rejoicing in heaven with all the people that went before and will be there to welcome his relatives and friends when we get there. We love you Dad/Grandpa and will see you again someday! In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Life Springs Community Church in Canandaigua or a Charity of the donors choice.
