Obituary of Inman Steagall

Inman (Stu) Steagall Pittsford/ Wappingers Falls, NY - Stu left us peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the age of 93 to be with his loving wife, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Steagall, who left us on September 23rd, 2018. Born in 1927 in Paris Kentucky, Stu had been living at an assisted living facility in Pittsford, New York for the past 4 years. He is survived by brother, Benjamin Steagall; sister, Leilani Wagner; his daughters, Debbie (Tom) Dyer of Brampton, Ontario Canada, Charlene Steagall Blascoe (Jim Bushnell) of Salt Springs, Florida and Theresa (Terri) Kip (Jeffrey Liebenow) of Seneca Falls NY; grandchildren, April D Fountain, Michael Blascoe and Jennifer Kip as well as three great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren and four foreign exchange students "sons". Stu served with the US Navy for 22 years. He retired as CWO2 in 1965 to begin a new career at IBM Corp. in Poughkeepsie, NY. Living in Wappingers Falls, he worked for IBM for 20 years. Then he went to work at Brookstone. Which he call the best adult toy store ever. He was an active Boy Scout leader for 30 years. He served as Scout Master, in the adult leadership program, earning the Woodbadge Award and the Silver Beaver Award. Stu started the first Coed Explorer programs, Sea Patrol as Ship 189. He was also active in the US Power Squadron for 50 years, serving as the Mid-Hudson District Squadron Commander, Past Commander District 2 and as a National Officer. He was also a past member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club, life member of the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club, member of the Elks Lodge in Wappingers Falls as well as a member of the Village Board. He and Jackie were very involved in volunteering for the American Cancer Society in various roles. The area Youth for Understanding program, bringing Foreign Exchange Students to the Duchess County Area, volunteered for the Duchess County Tourism, RSVP, Long time members of the First Presbyterian Church of Wappingers Falls, serving in various leadership roles and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. The family would like to thank Heather Heights Assisted Living Facility for their kindness and care during Stu and Jackie’s stay.
