Tim was a most beloved man around Legends for so many reasons, for his sense of humor and his always smiling face but more than anything it was for his love of his wife, Lynne. The two of them together were to be admired by so many of us as they faced the challenge of Tim's Parkinson's with compassion and love for each other. The two of them as a couple, had been a wonderful source of support and mentors to us we too are dealing with Parkinson's in our lives. They were great examples of working together as team, helping each other deal with each new stage of the disease. It will be hard to think of one them without the other as we always saw them as a couple here at Legends. He will be missed by his many Legend's friends including us, but we recognize no one will miss him more than his lovely wife, Lynne.
Tim we loved you greatly. May God Bless you with peace.

I have so many fond memories of Tim and Lynne in Canandaigua, The Legends, boating with Tom Albanese on Canandaigua Lake, weekends with the four couples at Raquette Lake, etc. Lots of golf and poker at both Canandaigua and Ft. Myers and always lots of laughs with Tim along. I’ve lost two of my best friends with Tim and Tom leaving us in such a short period of time. My many visits and conversations with him the last several months were tough. He wasn’t the same with his illness and he was too young to be in nursing homes. I know he did it to unburden Lynne but I will never understand the way he went about it. I have to believe it was a selfless act on his part because Tim was a very caring and kind person. Ann and I miss him very much.

We had the pleasure of becoming good friends with Lynne and Tim over the past few years. What a beautiful couple...always having fun and planning their next adventure. Although we met at Legends, we lived close to each other in NY and would get together off season. We enjoyed all our wonderful times with you both, and will cherish our memories together! Tim fought a courageous battle against his terrible disease. Together with Lynne, they were always researching ways to help Tim. The love they shared was always so evident. Lynne, Tim told us over and over how very happy he was to have found you, and how wonderful your years together were, the happiest years of his life. He told us he never wanted to be a burden to you. I hope you can look back over your time together and cherish all your wonderful memories, and know that he was trying to spare you the burden HE felt he was. He went about it all wrong, but I believe he thought he was doing the right thing. Rest In Peace Tim! We will miss you and your wonderful sense of humor!

I had the pleasure to be Tim's neighbor for 14 years or so, ever since Lynne and he got married. They were perfect for each other in so many ways. Loved his jokes ! We had some great talks through the years! So difficult to watch his decline, a terrible disease. He was so lucky to have Lynne and Kristy for support ! You two clinched your spot in heaven over the last few years.
He will be missed on the street !

Lynne,
We feel so fortunate to have Tim and you as friends. We enjoyed our dinners together and the couples golf. You were such a sweet couple and it was so obvious how much you both treated each other with respect and love. Tim was a gentle soul with a quick wit and an uncanny way of teasing himself. As Tim's disease progressed, your kindness and patience was amazing. We will all miss him and his description of his 35 foot putt. we are sending our love and support.

Dear Lynne,
How saddened I was to hear of Tim’s passing. I always enjoyed being with you and Tim at Legends. It was truly a privilege to have his friendship. His wit and sense of humor was such a highlight. I remember so well when you and Tim came over to see me when I broke my wrists. He was ready to hit the showers, should I need help!
God Bless you,Tim. May you now rest in peace.

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our dear friend, Tim. We were blessed with his loving friendship since the first day we met Tim and Lynne at the Legends in Fort Myers, Florida. The first time we met, Tim’s wit and sense of humor kept us laughing and smiling throughout our round of golf.
We spent many times each week, for years, with Tim and Lynne. Those memories will always warm our hearts. Tim’s love for Lynne was amazing. They always laughed together, lit up the room, and were the life of each party. They gave us many special memories to cherish. Tim will always be remembered for his smile (sometimes sneaky looking!) , wit, humor, kindness, determination (especially while he fought hard to stay physically and mentally strong during his journey with Parkinson’s), and his love for Lynne, her children, and grandchildren. Tim told us that the last 14 years were the best he had. I was fortunate to be able to speak on the phone with Tim regularly during his time in assisted and nursing home care before he passed. The blocking of several friends and especially Lynne these last months was sad since Tim told me that he missed them. Spending several days, and especially New Years with Lynne, after such a long time being kept away from Lynne, was something Tim was so happy about and he was so comforted to be able to spend that time with Lynne. Spending a last few days with Lynne smiling, laughing, reminiscing, and snuggling was precious for both of them.
We were certainly blessed by Tim’s loving friendship, one that will warm our hearts forever.
Love, Pam & Mike Gordon

Dear Lynne and family,
We are deeply saddened to mourn the loss of your sweet husband Tim. Tony and I thoroughly enjoyed our friendship with him and times together with Tim and Lynne over the past several years. Tim was a kind and gentle man loved by many friends in our community. He had a wickedly funny sense of humor and quick wit that brought levity to every situation, including exercise classes! Tim and his wife Lynne had a very loving relationship. Their total devotion to each other was clearly evident in their day-to-day interaction with each other. They were both so much fun to be with and so full of mischief and comedic drama. You just always knew that getting together with Tim and Lynne would be a delightful adventure of some kind! Tim loved golfing, playing bocce, cards, boxing, yoga, biking, walking and being the best darn friend to everyone. Tim was also a wonderful grandfather to his adorable grandchildren Lucas Grace and Grady. They did the most creative and silly fun things together providing them with a lifetime of wonderful memories. Tim was so proud to be their grandfather. As Tim’s disease progressed Lynne supported and encouraged him every step of the way and provided him with whatever physical care he needed along with being his emotional rock. He truly appreciated everything she did for him as he battled Parkinson’s and it’s terrible consequences. We will sorely miss you Tim Gilbert but we will never forget you and the joy your life brought to us.

It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Tim Gilbert. Tom and I had the joy of sharing a beautiful grandson, Lucas , with Lynne and Tim. Lucas loved his time with his buddy Tim and we all enjoyed Tim’s wit and stories! I will always have fond memories of our poker games at Legends.
Tim and Lynne shared a very special marriage and she was such a good caretaker. It was heartbreaking to see how she was deprived of that in his last months of life. We all know how Lynne loved and cared for Tim.
He will be missed.

Lynne, When I read your beautiful tribute not only to Tim but to your wonderful marriage, I thought about how much love you had for each other. You took such good care of him while he fought the biggest battle of his life.
The Germans were always proud to say Tim was part of our family. I will always remember him for his quick wit and that cute smirk on his face when he would share a joke...or even a one-liner. Just being around Tim and Lynne, everyone knew how happy and in love they were. We will miss you, Tim, and we will always be there for your wife. Good bye, my sweet brother-in-law. May God be with you.

Lynne and Tim were married on our wedding anniversary, so that day became a very special one for the four of us. The love they shared "the second time around" was really special to see. They were so grateful to have found each other later in life and they lived every day to its fullest. When Tim was diagnosed with Parkinson's, they worked together to maintain Tim's quality of life. He fought a hard battle. Tim was such a sweet man and Lynne really brought out his playful side. Everyone who met Tim liked him. We will miss his smile and his laughter, but we're glad he's now at peace.

Tim and I spent many an hour in high school playing poker at my house with a a number of friends but particularly Jack Frankel and Al Humphrey. We occasionally let a ‘sucker’ into our little group but they seldom returned. I was lucky enough to keep our friendship going over the years. We had season tickets for the local live theater that we attended with our spouses for many years. Lynne and Tim introduced me to the love of my life (Carolynn) and for that I am forever grateful. We had many fine get togethers but probably the most memorable was several days in Key West the year I retired. Tim and Lynne were a joy to be with.

Tim was such a good guy and was a second father to me. I feel so blessed to have had Tim in my life as my “Dad II” for 14 years! We loved spending time together talking about music, history, and life! I have so many incredible memories with Tim throughout the years...Christmas Eve and his wacky jacket, playing board games, sandwiches from The Company Store, coffee breaks, our annual Father’s Day golf and hike at Grimm’s Glen, geocaching, backyard baseball with Lucas, and the list could go on and on! Tim was a welcomed part of our family, everyone loved Tim right away. One of my favorite parts of Tim’s personality was his ability to tell a story or joke and how he captivated his audience, he had a true gift! Tim loved to travel and enjoyed coming back from a vacation with my Mom and telling me all about the amazing things they had seen and done! Tim loved playing with Grace, Grady, and his best buddy Lucas! Tim will truly be missed by everyone that knew him! We love you Tim!

Tim and I graduated from Haverling High School in 1965. While that is almost 55 years ago it certainly doesn't seem that way when I think of Tim. He was a good friend with a quick wit and an insight into life that was beyond his years. He was the type of person that everyone wanted to spend time with. Allen Humphrey, Rick Williams, Tim and I had formed special friendships that continued after graduation but unfortunately we had drifted apart. In spite of the separation in time and place when I learned of Tim's passing it came as a shock and a true loss. He was a fine person loved by his famil and friends. I will always remember him fondly. David Werner

Cait and I loved our father deeply and miss him greatly. I cannot even summon the words right now to encapsulate a lifetime of memories. I am hoping that two photos of Dad, Caitlin, and me will be worth a thousand words for the time being. Thank you to all who loved him and were part of his life. The first photo was taken when we were just playing together in the living room on his birthday. The second photo is from when we met up at my sister's apartment in Maryland to spend the weekend together. The best part of being a family was spending time together. Notice in the second photo that he was holding my arm very tightly to make sure I didn't give him "bunny ears" once again.

Tim was a sensitive and caring man. He often made me laugh and find the good in things. We were married for over 32 years and had the joy of having two daughters together, Molly and Caitlin. He enjoyed family times and was very proud of both of them. Spending time with Molly and Caitlin brought him joy and he ended each conversation with them with “I love you.”
Tim spent many hours with his mother and father and was always ready to help them. He had helped to care for his mother after her cancer diagnosis. He and his dad would often watch Buffalo Bills football games together. She never let him leave without feeding him or sending him home with food.
His siblings have always been very important to him. He was comforted to spend time with them and nieces and nephews during his final months.
During his school years and afterwards, he enjoyed spending time with the Cleeves family in Avoca and with the late Al and Bill Humphrey in Bath. High school friends were lifelong friends for him. Football days and high school antics were often rehashed when they would get together later. Having his nose broken during a football game was always on the list of topics.
Tim had varied interests and was always ready to try something new. Those included tennis, 5K races, bowling, relearning to play the trumpet, and horseback riding. He was passionate about history and loved to go to historical sites and read about real people and events.
His quick wit and genuine interest in other people made it easy to engage with him. He made friends everywhere he went.
One thing you could count on from Tim was generosity. Whenever he saw someone less fortunate or in need, he would be ready to help in any way that he could. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, as a trumpet-playing bell ringer for the Salvation Army, as a tutor, and helped organized food baskets for the community while at Xerox.
The world is less bright without him in it.

It is with great sadness that I share this with you. Tim passed away Jan. 31, 2020, he was in hospice care in a nursing home. He fought a courageous battle against the Parkinson's disease for 9 years. He tried to stay one step ahead of the progression of the disease by boxing, yoga, golf, bocce and even tried pickle ball , but he finally was not able to out run this terrible disease. My heart is broken but I am glad that he is finally at peace and free of this disease. We had a wonderful life together for 16 years and I will cherish every day I had with him. We had a special connection from the first time we met and we never looked back. When he was first diagnosed 9 years ago, we said we would not let this disease define us but unfortunately the years went by and the disease took control of our life. We were lucky enough to travel in the states and Europe, and spend the winters in Florida. We never took this wonderful life for granted, we appreciated everyday we had together and tried to live a “normal life”. Life is not fair but I will move on without him and cherish so many memories of our times together. Thank you from both of us for being there, loving us and supporting us as we traveled this difficult journey. I always said “Life is so much sweeter when you travel with the one you love”. Tim will forever be in my heart, as I travel life without him. RIP my sweet Tim.
