She is survived by her brother John Lyon and sisters Kathy Brown, Faye Perrotte, as well as her sister-in-law Diane Wicks, her sons Lee Smith, William Knaak, Travis E Wicks (Ameda), and daughter Terri Squires(Bruce); granddaughters including Caitlin, Ashlyn and Madison Knaak, Sadi Stocchia, Jessica Smith. her grandsons including Colby Smith, Jason Smith, Cody Sawyer, Ethan Pietropaolo,Cameron and Jordan Wicks as well as a great granddaughter and great grandsons along with a few nieces and nephews. Sharon lived in Canandaigua for most of her life but dreamed of traveling the world. She lived for her family and was always out to make the best out of any situation. She was always the person to put a smile on everyone’s face and offer up a joke to make you smile. She was favorited where ever she was while in and out of the hospital. She was the joy in many lives, and she will be deeply missed. The family would like to extend a gracious amount of gratitude to all of the medical staff from Thompson Hospital, Elm Manor, The Homestead and the home health aides and nurses who have cared for Sharon over the years and especially all those who were involved in her final days. We deeply appreciate you taking great care of our family member and making her stays and life as comfortable and lively as possible while treating her like your own family member and offering her companionship. All of that is completely unrepayable and we are beyond thankful for each and every person, she wouldn’t have made it this far if it wasn’t for you. Thank you. We are also celebrating Sharon by wearing purple in her honor as it was her favorite color instead of traditional black if anyone else wishes to participate. Calling hours will be at Fuller Funeral Home in Canandaigua, NY Wednesday January 8, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the funeral following immediately after. Note from the family: Sharon was like the sunshine peeking out on a cloudy day. Her whole life seemed to be struggle after struggle and yet she kept persevering even when she didn’t want to. She pushed through until the very end because she wanted to live for her family as much as possible. She was always that warm comforting hug at the end of a long hard day. The person you looked forward to seeing, that person who would hug you so tight she mended all your broken pieces together making you feel whole again. She was one of those grandma’s who loved you so much that you couldn’t understand how that much love was possible. She raised her grandchildren with so much love and life and not only did she live for us but we lived for her. Bringing back trinkets and memories from the places we’ve been just to give her the sense of having traveled with us. Taking life experiences with her in our hearts and thoughts and coming back to share them with her. Sharon was the type of person who always made sure that we had everything we needed, making sure that her family was taken care of before herself. Even if that meant she went without. She was more than happy to support her family and grandchildren and even checking to make sure we were all taken care of before she passed in peace. She was the bringer of laughter and smiles, our shoulder to cry on when our hearts broke; always our home away from home. Nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by her family. She was all of our hearts and souls and having left us to join her departed family that she has been missing for some time; she has taken pieces of ourselves with her and we wish her nothing but peace at long last and unconditional happiness. We’ll forever miss you, until we’re together again.
