Lawrence J. Olvany Jr.

On Thursday, October 31, 2019 Lawrence Joseph Olvany, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at Light Hill Comfort Care Home. Larry was 87 years old.

Born in Queens New York, to Margaret and Lawrence Olvany, Larry was a loving husband to Carol Olvany for 51 years (previously deceased), father to Tim Olvany, Tara and Randy Schweitzer, Maribeth Olvany, Brian and Jacqueline Olvany and Kevin and Anne Olvany. Grandfather to: Sophie Olvany, Audrey Olvany, Colin Schweitzer, Grace Olvany, Molly Schweitzer, Sean Olvany and Patrick Olvany Larry aka dad, grandpa, pop, Larry O and LJ was an amazing husband, father and grandfather.

Larry lived in St. James, NY raising his family before moving to Nokomis, FL for many happy retirement years with Carol. Larry most recently resided in Canandaigua, NY with his wonderful extended family at Clark Meadows.

Larry was in the Army for 8 years and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant. He was an educator, Associate High School Principal, coach, historical genius, classic movie and music enthusiast, book lover, Jeopardy champion, baseball sports strategist and golfer who achieved two hole in ones. Most importantly, he was known as a gentle and kind person who truly cared about others.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday November 7th at Saint Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St. Canandaigua, NY.
