Ruth T. Colcord
Canandaigua- Ruth Theresa Colcord passed away peacefully at the age of 93 with family by her side, July 31, 2019.
She was predeceased by her husband Carl Colcord. Ruth was also predeceased by her brother Albert Morris of Cape Cod, MA and sister Rosalie Fitzpatrick of Cohasset, MA. Ruth is survived by her four sons: Edward Colcord of Canandaigua,NY, John Colcord (Colleen and Cannon) of Berlin, MD, Richard Colcord of Tampa, FL, and Michael Colcord (Laura, Maxwell and Alexander) of Canandaigua,NY.
Ruth grew up in Massachusetts where she met Carl. They were married for 42 years. Every spring she shared the story of how her wedding flowers, peonies, filled the house where she was married. She would often share stories of how the young couple would move when it was required for Carl’s work. Each move seemed to bring another baby. Ruth would share stories of living in a third floor walk up and being a new mother and building her house on Arlington Circle in Canandaigua,NY. With each move she made more friends. These stories made her smile.
Ruth worked at the Daily Messenger in the classified ads section and retired in 1998.
Many of you may not know this, but Ruth liked to collect things. She collected dolls. She collected Hummels, she collected little glass shoes. She also collected angel statues. One might think that her house would be cluttered, but no. Ruth was a very organized person. Everything had a purpose and a place.
Anyone that new Ruth knew that her faith was important to her. She volunteered at St.Vincent's Catholic charities. She also would take communion to people that were unable to go to mass. Helping people was part of who she was.

An 11am funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, August 6, at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St. Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
