Obituary of Philip H. Leete

Philip Harold Leete 1923- 2019 Phil was born in Norwich NY attended Eastwood High in Syracuse NY until the 10th grade then graduated from Norwich High School in 1942. After graduation Phil went to work for Bendix in Sidney NY. In 1943 he was drafted into the Army Air Corps where he served 18 months in the states and then 18 months in Saipan and Iwo Jima. Upon his discharge he returned to his employment with Bendix where he retired after 40 years with the company. In 1949 he married the love of his life Ruth Baumgartner. Together they built their first home (How to build a house for $3,500). He said it cost a little more but they did it. They went on through their years together to build a few more. In 1966 they sold their fourth house and bought an old farm complete with a barn. Before long he and Ruth had a small business of dried flower arrangements on driftwood and other such items. They were very successful drawing people from many states. Sadly in 1978 they had to close the barn Loft to be able to take care of Phil's Parents. Phil soon found another hobby of buying and selling old tools. He and Ruth made many friends along the way. Especially the Amish in different parts of New York. Phil was predeceased by his parents Clinton and Gladys Leete and Ruth Baumgartner Leete his wife of 61 years. For the last few years Phil resided at Parkwood Heights in Macedon NY and the Atria of Penfield NY One of the highlights of Phil's life was when his great nephew Scot Haynes accompanied him on Honor Flight. Philip is survived by his niece Jeannette Haynes (Canandaigua) His Great nephew Scot Haynes (Valerie) their children his great great-nephews Mike Haynes (Shannon) their son Nathan, Scot Haynes Jr (Renee) their children Victoria, Reese and Morgan. Gary Haynes (Regina) their children Hayleigh and Brayden Leete Haynes. His Niece Ruth Mahoney Quincy Mass, her children his great nephews John Jr., Kevin and great nieces Megan and Heather.
