Obituary of Joseph M. Pobocek
Joseph Michael Pobocek III passed away quickly and peacefully at Keuka Comfort Care Home in Penn Yan, NY after an unexpected diagnosis of liver cancer on August 17, 2018.
Joe was an active Tech team member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Canandaigua. He took the lead in the installation of the A/V system there and avidly trained members to run the sound equipment. He will be greatly missed by his church family. Professionally, Joe was a Field Service Technician for DeTekion Security Systems. He loved to tinker and build the electrical fence security systems used at prisons, military bases, airports and nuclear plants around the world. Again, he will be greatly missed by all.
Joe lived a selfless life, always wanting to help others. He loved the quiet outdoors that our home provided with lots of nature and wildlife to view from the deck. He tinkered a lot in the barn too. He loved all of our four-legged children - Bo and Kiri, Phannie, Paige, Paisley and Chloe (four indoor cats), as well as outdoor cats Smokey, Mitzy and Duchess. They miss him terribly and don't understand yet that he is in Heaven.
Joe is survived by his wife beloved Deborah (DeGraw) Pobocek; step-children, Connie Pruden (Teulon, Manitoba, Canada), Victoria Pruden (Bangkok, Thailand), Amanda Pruden, Los Angeles, CA), Jonathan Pruden (Canandaigua, NY), and Nicholas (Jessie) Pruden (Geneva, NY); and step-grandchildren, Lucas, Jessica, and Brody Shelest (Teulon, Manitoba, Canada).
Joe was pre-deceased by his father, Joseph Michael Pobocek Jr. He is also survived by his mother, Mary (Sines) Pobocek (Binghamton, NY); sisters, Joanne Pobocek (Binghamton, NY), Dorothy Pobocek (Binghamton, NY), and Dee (Edward) Rinker (Greene, NY); brothers, Kevin Pobocek (Enterprise, AL) and Keith (Tina) Pobocek (Norwich, NY); and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call on Monday, September 24th at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 320 South Pearl Street, Canandaigua, NY from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm. There will be a Celebration of Life beginning at 2:15 pm followed by a dinner hosted by church. Funeral arrangments were made by the Fuller Funeral Home Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Tech Fund at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in memory of Joe to enable upgrades and purchases that may be needed to continue Joe's passion.
