Obituary of Walter Larder

Walter Larder Jr. Canandaigua- Walter Larder, 98, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2018. He was predeceased by his wife Barbara. Walter is survived by sons, Donald (Patricia) and Gary Larder; step-children, Kathryn Allen and Robert Jensen; and six grandchildren. Walter was employed for many years at the Canandaigua V.A. in the food services department. A Purple Heart recipient in WWII, he was active in the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans and served as their Chaplain. Walter volunteered for several years with Meals on Wheels and prison ministry. He was a devoted member of the Chapin United Methodist Church. Walter regularly shared his harvest from his large garden with members of the community and charity organizations. Walter received fine care in his final years at Elm Manor in Canandaigua. A 10 am service of remembrance will be held Thursday, June 21, at the United Church, 11 Gibson St. Canandaigua.
