Obituary of James A. Angus
James A. Angus, of Canandaigua, NY died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018 at the Age of 69, after a short battle with Cancer.
James is survived by his wife, Barbara; their children, Elizabeth (Christian) Henshaw of Henrietta, NY, Kerrie (Michael) Goff of Rushville, NY, and Sean O’Brien of Canandaigua, NY; his siblings Mary (Timothy) Hoose of Prattsburgh, NY, Patrick Angus of Lindley, NY, and Rocco ‘Butch’ Angus of Syracuse, NY; his Granddaughters, Mairin Goff of Rushville, NY and SiannaO’Brien of Indianapolis, IN, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Mary & Augustus Angus, of Prattsburgh, NY and Mother and Father in law, Mildred & Joseph Kurtz of Wayland, NY.
James was born on July 1st, 1948 in Prattsburgh, NY to Mary & Augustus Angus. He graduated from Prattsburgh Central School in 1968, and from Rochester Business Institute with a degree in Business Management. He married Barbara in 1988 in Canandaigua, NY. He worked 31 years for the Canandaigua VA Hospital, followed by 14 years as a bus monitor for special needs children in the Canandaigua City School District.
James was a friend to everyone, and loved baseball; he was a lifelong devoted Chicago Cubs fan. He was an active and dedicated parishioner of St Mary’s Church, and a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1445. He volunteered for the St Mary’s Festival each year, acting as co-chair of the festival for the last 5 years, and volunteered for countless events sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
Friends may call on Wednesday, May 30th from 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7pm at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St, Canandaigua, NY. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, May 31st at 11am at St Mary’s Church, 95 N Main St, Canandaigua, NY; immediately following mass, Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Clark St, Canandaigua, NY will take place, with a reception to follow at Dougherty Hall, St Mary’s Church, Canandaigua, NY. All are welcome to attend and celebrate James’ life.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in James’ name to St Mary’s School, Canandaigua, NY or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. The family would like to thank the caring staff of the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center at Thompson Hospital for their devoted care of both James and his family over the past 2 months.
