COL Joseph Ward III, USA (Ret) posted a condolence
Thursday, March 22, 2018
I am deeply saddened at Roger's passing. I had the honor of serving with him during my tenure as commander of the great Co. D, 464th Engineer Battalion from 1982 through 1986. Roger was a loyal soldier and a dear friend. I shall never forget his sage advise, superior competency, and mission-accomplishment attitude. Regretfully I was away at the time of his death and missed the opportunity to speak with you all personally. Please accept my sincerest condolences and know that you all are in my prayers. I will miss Roger greatly.
Respectfully,
Jay Ward

My deepest sympathies and prayers for the family. SFC Lamphier's face was the first I saw when reporting for duty to Company D in 1985. I had the opportunity to work with him for several years as both an NCO and an Officer until he retired. While he and I did not always agree on certain things, I always found him to be a dedicated NCO and deeply caring about his unit and fellow soldiers. I very much respect him and am grateful for his service. He will be missed.

To the family of Mr. Lamphier We would like to send our condolences to the whole family. He always remembered me when I would see him out and about. He would always ask how I was doing. Such a wonderful gentleman who as I remember growing up pretty much in Cheshire he never put any of us down or had anything bad to say about anybody. We are so very sorry again to hear about the lose of your husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Margie and Kirk Stebbins

I knew Roger well when he was a Military Technician with Co D, 464th Engineer Bn, and the unit was assigned to the 98th Division. Roger was a true gentleman who sincerely cared for the Soldiers under his care. Many thanks to Roger's family who shared him with his military family. May he rest in eternal peace.

I babysat for your family in Cheshire back in the 60's. I remember Roger as a very kind family man, and always thought your family was very close. I'm sure Roger will be missed by many. A very handsome man, and I remember Mrs. Lamphier as a very pretty lady. My sincere condolences to all his family.
