Mr. Konitski was one of my favorite teachers at the Academy. Sympathies to his family and friends and I thank him for making something not so fun just a little better. May he rest in peace.

Ron Konitski. I remember meeting him for the first time when I was a brand new teacher in 1985 at the JA. There were three or four of us that came in new to the building that here and he referred to us as the “young turks”-a term of endearment.
K always had plenty of advice. I was fortunate to have worked on the same teaching team with him my last two years in Canandaigua. He loved a good argument/debate- but always did that with me in good, entertaining spirit. I realized much later he was challenging me- to question deeper, and defend my positions.
Ron was unyielding in his commitment to doing what he believed was right for young people, and I always respected that about him. He saw the good in every child.
I am sure his kind manner and nonjudgmental affect kept many kids in school.
He influenced thousands and thousands of children in a positive manner and I send my condolences.

Mr. Konitski was a great teacher and friend. He helped many of his students through the difficulties of 8th grade. I will miss his friendship dearly. He will not be forgotten.

Although I didn't have "Mr. K" in Jr. High I remember him monitoring us juvenile delinquents as we made our way through the hallways. I am fortunate to have served with him on City Council for several terms, where he was a great mentor to everyone.
When I ran for higher office I sought him out for political advice. He gave sage advice that I followed and it turned out well. I enjoyed seeing him in later years when he volunteered as a child advocate.
Ron was a real character, a quick wit, and Canandaigua is fortunate to have had him for so many decades. I think of him often and am grateful for his legacy, especially his leadership regarding Kershaw Park and Lakeshore Drive.

I knew Mr Kinitski as a colleague when I was a young teacher . I can still hear his voice saying so many coined phrases. For those that were colleagues, I’m sure you remember, “Ron Konitski, 8 Red.” This was followed by questions and challenges to administration- always pushing the envelope. At the time, I probably just wanted the meeting to end, but later as I became more involved, I sat at a meeting at central office where something I don’t even remember was going to be put in place - what I do remember is administrators saying, “ok, what will Ron Konitaki ask.” A lightbulb went off in my young head- this Konitski guy knows what he’s talking about and makes these guys think! His legacy lives on in those of us that remember that lesson, never settling for status quo, but always asking, pushing, and challenging ourselves, our peers, and our superiors. Thank you, Mr Konitski. May you Rest In Peace
