Richard L. Torrellas
Canandaigua- Richard Torrellas passed away peacefully January 7, 2018 at F.F. Thompson Health with his sister, Daisy; nephew, Steven; and friend, Jack by his side.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard; daughters, Jenifer, Vanessa (Rosendo Jr.) and Nicole; 15 loving grandchildren; his mother, Laura Buckland; sister and best friend, Daisy Buckland-Morse; sisters, Cynthia Morelock, Dinah Blankenburg; brothers, Acy Buckland, Dennis Buckland, and Robert Buckland; many nieces, nephews and several friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Tammy Torrellas in 1975; his wonderful and beloved step-pop, Orval Buckland; and his sweet sister, Sonia E. Lawson.
Richard joined the US Marine Corps in 1967. He was a Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He also was a member of the Canandaigua VFW.
He spent some time in NYC before settling in Palmyra, NY. In 2003, he moved to Canandaigua. Richard worked at Wayside Garden Center in Macedon, NY for several years before starting his own landscaping business.
Richard loved to fish and follow his NY Yankees. Politics was a big part of his life, as was listening to Bobby L. (Bob Lonsberry) and discussing political views. He also enjoyed listening to Simon and Garfunkel.
Friends may call Thursday, January 18, from 5-7pm at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 7pm funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
