Obituary of Edward E. Wood

EDWARD E. WOOD, JR.

HOPEWELL: "Live today. Forget yesterday. Don't worry about tomorrow. Don't plan ahead.  There are exceptions... Life will change." Ed Wood.

Ed was born in Canandaigua on May 18, 1924 to the late Edward and Ella (LeGro) Wood. He had been associated for 39 years with the NY Dairy Herd Improvement through Cornell University. He was actively involved with Town of Hopewell Government having been a Town Councilman and Justice of the Peace. Ed was a  member of the Chapin United Methodist Church, a 20 year member of Gideons, a chartered member of the Hopewell Volunteer Fire Department founded in 1959, delivered Meals on Wheels and donated over twenty gallons of blood to the Red Cross.  Survivors include his son William (Valarie) Wood, CA and daughter Valerie (Robert) DeLeo, Shortsville and his sister Margaret Campbell, IN.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Gina (Randy) Deck, David (Jenn Crain) DeLeo, Chad Wood, William Wood, Rebecca (Steve) Goins, Candice (James) Qualey,  Shauna Crawford and granddaughter of the heart Melanie Gruber. Also surviving are Ed's 13 cherished great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Mary Jane "Midge", his son Robert Wood, his sister Emily Whitney, and a special friend Ruth Crouse.

There will be no prior calling hours.  A celebration of Ed's life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, North Main St, Canandaigua at 10:00 on Saturday, June 3.  Private graveside services will be held in Chapman Cemetery. A luncheon in Ed's memory will be held at King's Catering, Rts. 5&20 following the service. It has been suggested that those who wish donate a pint of blood in Ed's name or contribute the Chapin UMC.
