Thomas Coyne

Obituary of Thomas P. Coyne

Thomas P. Coyne

Manchester- Thomas Coyne, age 73 passed away on May 11, 2017.

He is survived by his loving wife, Christine Crowell Coyne; children: Sean (Kelly Zona) Coyne, Timothy (Kelly Hobart) Coyne, and Paul (Nicole Zona) Coyne; and, his pride and joy, grandchildren: Ryan (Alyssa), Zachary, Shane, Kathryn, Trenton, Meghan, and Andrew. He was also blessed with two great-grandsons, Declan and Leland Coyne.

Tom's family was the light of his life and also included his brothers, Gerald (Kathy) and Kevin Coyne; father-in-law, Gordon Crowell; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many close friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, John and Geraldine Coyne, and siblings, Terry and Jean Coyne and Johnny Coyne.

Tom served his country in the Air Force, where he was in the military police. He then served his community as a volunteer in many programs. He was a member of the Lions Club and president of both the Red Jacket Little League and Sports Boosters. He was inducted into the Red Jacket Athletic Hall of Fame and was honored as Rotarian Citizen of the year. Additionally, Tom served on the Town of Manchester’s grievance committee.

After his years serving his community, he was free to divide his time between his two favorite passions, his family and golf. He loved to spend time with Christine and their friends in Florida, where they golfed and attended daily happy hours. At home in New York, he was his grandchildren’s biggest supporter. He loved to watch them in any activity. As a member of the Red Jacket Football chain crew, he was able watch his grandsons’ football games from the sidelines. He watched baseball and softball games in all types of weather, and he absolutely loved to watch the kids making music at their band and chorus concerts. Even from Florida, he communicated with the kids via FaceTime and Snapchat .

Tom loved to golf, and he loved his league family and his tournament team. He spent many of his days at Winged Pheasant, where, if not on the course, he was working. But what he loved the most was his beautiful wife of almost 50 years, Christine. Christine was his rock, his companion, and, despite saying he ”hated it,” his shopping buddy. Tom and Christine finished each day side by side in their recliners, watching TV and reading the paper.

In memory of Tom, donations may be made to the Red Jackets Boosters Club, ATTN: Bob Good, 1506 State Route 21, Shortsville, NY 14548.
