Paul J. Meath
Paul Meath, age 90, of Canandaigua, died on Jan. 26, 2017, at Thompson Continuing Care Center.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1926, in Canandaigua to the late P. Howard and Margaret (Barry) Meath and was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy.
He worked for the former Meath's Meat Market and had been a school bus driver for the Canandaigua School District. He had been a Canandaigua city police officer. Paul owned and operated the Farmers Inn where he sponsored several bowling and other sports leagues including the State Police Troop E Slow Pitch Softball team in the 1970s. He had also owned and operated the McGuire & Hargrave Funeral Home in Palmyra.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church and a fourth degree Knights of Columbus, past president of Erina Hose Company and charter member of the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Helen Woodford Meath of Canandaigua; daughter, Debra Dwyer and son-in-law David Trau of Rochester; grandson, Stephen Dwyer; brothers, Howard and Barry Meath, both of Rochester; and sisters-in-law, Carole Meath and Rita Woodford.
He was predeceased by his son, Paul; daughter, Barbara Meath; and brothers, David and Eddie Meath.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
