Obituary of Edward F. Tidd
Edward F. “Ed” Tidd III was born October 14, 1951 in Rochester, NY and passed away March 30, 2016 at home with family by his side in Rushville, NY after a brief illness. He attended Marcus Whitman HS and later attended Pima Community College. Ed worked as a Senior Real Property Tax Map Technician for 30 years with Ontario County.
Ed loved the outdoors, from hiking with his wife to visiting the lake, it was where he found peace. For many years, Ed attended camping trips with his son Will’s boy scout troop and participated in scouting events. He also loved taking family camping trips to Assateague Island among other places. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed harvesting his produce and canning each season. Ed was meticulous with his garden and carefully planned his annual crop.
Being an animal lover, bird-watching was another great hobby he loved dearly. He kept many birdhouses on his property and maintained them diligently to ensure the birds would come back each spring. Sitting, bird-watching, enjoying the company of family in the gazebo he helped his son build was always a summer staple at his home. His “grand-pup” Brody would visit and sometimes stay weeks with Ed and they would go on long walks and play fetch. Ed loved Brody as much as Brody loved Ed.
He absolutely adored his granddaughters, Lily and Rosemary. When they came to visit, he enjoyed playing and pretending with them. Lily spent many weekends with her grandparents having sleepovers and adventures to the lake. Ed was always patient, kind and loving and the girls always loved to snuggle their Grandpa.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jean R. Tidd; son, William (Lindsey) Tidd; brothers, Gregg (Faith) Tidd, Kevin (Lori) Tidd; father, Edward F. Tidd Jr.; step-mother, Barbara Tidd; grandchildren, Lily & Rosemary Tidd; nephews, Leo (Rachel) Tidd, Andy (Erica) Tidd; nieces, Tessa Tidd, Amanda Tidd, Paige (Alfred James) LaMere; great-nephews, Finn, Taro & Lucas Tidd. Ed was predeceased by his mother, Theresa Tidd.
