Obituary of Rose Perrotto

Rose Marie (Rosie) D’Agostino Perrotto 1/4/23 – 1/26/11 Rose M. Perrotto, 88, passed away at F.F. Thompson Hospital, January 26, 2011. Rosie lived her life with great passion and determination. She was a strong and compassionate woman who knew what mattered most - people. To her, family was the top priority. Not a day went by that she didn’t demonstrate the importance of love, family, and taking care of those around her. To her family, she was a matriarch, a leader, a nurturer, a jokester, and a story teller. Rosie touched the lives of not only her family, but of everyone she knew. She worked as the head cook of Canandaigua Junior High for 32 years. She took a personal interest in every student who walked into her cafeteria. Although she retired 25 years ago, until the day she died, many former students still reached out to her to tell her what a positive impact she had on their lives. Her family often joked that wherever she went everyone in the room wanted to talk to her. She took great pleasure in the relationships she forged throughout her life. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church, acting as the loudest voice in the choir until she was in her 80s. She was also an avid bowler, inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame as the first woman in the area to bowl a 600 series. But her favorite hobby was cooking. The kitchen was her favorite room, always filled with great food, funny stories, an extra plate, family and friends. In her final years, Rosie resided at the Ontario County Health Facility. Although she had some health struggles, her strength of character and one-of-a-kind personality remained constant. Her family would like to thank the staff at the Health Facility for their care and compassion. Rosie was a true testament to love, determination, and commitment; to the important things in life. Through her life, she taught so many wonderful things, things that will make all of us better people. She had hundreds of friends, but even more importantly the respect of anyone who knew her. She touched those she knew in a loving, positive way, no matter if it was a brief encounter or a lifelong relationship. Rosie was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Canandaigua Academy. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Perrotto; her grandchildren, Michaela, Zachary, Christopher, and Andrew; her brother, James (Elaine) D’Agostino; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Alexander; her daughter, Donna Perrotto Leach; and by six siblings, whom she loved dearly. Friends may call Sunday, January 30, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo Street Canandaigua. A 10:00 am memorial mass will be held Monday January 31, at St. Mary’s Church, 95 North Main Street Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
