Roma J. (Middlebrook) Dekouski
Canandaigua, NY
Roma J. Dekouski, 85, passed away November 11, 2010 in the loving care of The Homestead staff in Penn Yan, NY.
A Middlesex native, born in 1925 to the late Nathan Howard and Mariam (Mack) Middlebrook, She attended nursing school and worked as an L.P.N at Greggs Nursing Home, in Canandaigua and Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan. Later in life she helped her husband, Ray, in Mr. Rays Beauty Salon in Middlesex.
Roma and Ray were instrumental in the formation of the Middlesex Volunteer Ambulance, serving on the ambulance crew and helping in their community. Roma was a 62 year member of American Legion Auxiliary Robson-Savage Unit 546 where she served many committees including Past Unit President and Past County President.
She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond C. Dekouski, granddaughter, Karla Dekouski Moreau, and a brother Harold Eagle Middlebrook.
She will be dearly missed by a son and daughter-in-law; Terry & Debra Dekouski (Canandaigua), daughter; Adele Dekouski (Middlesex), sister; Alice Williams (Summerville, S. Carolina), grandchildren; Luke Dekouski (Naples), Jason (Michelle) Dekouski (Waterloo), Kelly (Pat) Struble (Canandaigua), great grandchildren; Tyler & Paige Struble, and Nicholas Dekouski. Roma is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many longtime friends. Special loving friend Patricia Heckman.
Friends may call, Fuller Funeral Home, Inc., 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua, Monday November15, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where a American Legion Auxiliary Service will take place at 7:30 pm. A celebration of Romas life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday November 16, at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 550 Latona Road, Bld. D, Suite 408, Rochester, NY 14626 or The Middlesex Volunteer Ambulance.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Homestead for all the TLC Roma received during her stay. The bears left with the angels.
