We haven't met in person, but I'm one of Marty's cousins from Connecticut. I just wanted to let his friends and immediate family in New York know that you're in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Please send your contact information when you get a chance. If you are ever curious about where/who the Burns family is, I maintain a fairly complete family history. Marty and I spent many hours on the phone talking about his Dad and cousins.

One memory of the hundreds of baseball games Marty and I attended and helped with, was the day in Joes senior year when he struck out 16. Marty was so very proud!! Our deepest regrets and our prayers will be with your family

Marty was the loudest and friendliest substitute teacher I have ever encountered. It was awesome being directed by him when I was in the musical "Annie." I loved that man. My sincerest condolences to the family.

I will always remember Mr. Burns and those musical days. I don't think I will ever forget "Anything Goes" in which he directed and that crazy cast party for West Side Story at his house. He was always busting on someone and having a good time. So sorry to hear about his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Marty subbed for my 9th and 11th grade English classes upon occasion. It was nice to know that my plans would be carried out so I would know where to begin the next day.

"Coach Burns"Together we coached our boys when they were at the very early stages of Little League. You were kind enough to bring me along as an assistant coach in those early years. Our teams always did very well and finished well over 500 each year. A couple of times they finished the season as champions. I know the boys learned alot about baseball then, but they learned alot about life. As I write this my memory flashes back to cheering crowds of family and friends as they watch their children playing ball under your guidance and care. I see Coach Burns patting a player on the back, but I also see him, the big towering man that he was, down on one knee consoling a little guy who was disappointed with his strike out at the plate. Coach, you made a differance in the lives of those young boys and you made a difference in the life of this ole boy. Thanks, we'll never forget...

Marty liked to be known as the "Duke of Downtown" in the 80's when he was in politics. He enjoyed bantering with the old Canandaigua crowd at his restaurant, coaching Little League and playing with his children. He was too young to leave this earth.

We were shocked to hear that Marty had passed. He was a very generous man, always bringing in and offering us fresh vegetables that he had in his truck on the way to/from market, never accepting a dime. We are so sorry about your loss and will truly miss seeing and chatting with him.
