Herb lived a full life. I find his service to the Quakers inspiring, and I am thankful to have been part of his life. Today I found a card that Herb and Bea sent to my husband and me to congratulate us on the birth of our daughter a year and a half ago. Herb and Bea primarily knew me as a very young child, and it means so much to me that they have taken care and interest in my adult life. I am sending this message from Kampala, Uganda. Kampala has been my home for the last three years. I remember Herb and Bea mentioning they had visited Kampala many years ago. I am thinking of them and celebrating their marriage, and Herb's life this evening.

Herb and Bea were at Farmington Friends when Sally and I first became interested in Friends Church. They helped enrich our understanding of Friends testimonies which eventually led to our joining the meeting. I remember that day when our whole family, all five of us were dedicated. Herb will be greatly missed.

I always felt a special link to Herb Kimball....He will always be connected with Farmington Friends Meeting, just as all the others who have gone before that were part of "the Great Generation". I first "met" him when he was the pastor (so I was told) at the time of my birth. (That extends his pastoring back 2 years--truth be told--to 1950.) Then again Herb was there to officiate at Jim's and my wedding in July 1980. Over the years, his quiet presence spoke to his Faithfulness. It was always a given that the rise of meeting would be met with a firm handshake and a few words. Over the years, it may have taken a bit more time to get the message out, but it was always sure that the quiet and faithful presence remained unchanged. I have no doubt that he was welcomed somehow someway by my dad Charlie in a place and time where pain is no more and the sorrows and trials of this life melt away. With their strong smiles and day-by-day living their faith, these Quaker men blessed many whle they were here to walk among us. In whatever ways they touched our lives, may we pass on their examples of love and steadfastness till we are called home.
