EDWARD KEATING CONIFF
Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and WW-2 veteran
CANANDAIGUA: Edward Keating Coniff, 85, formerly of Inverness, Fla. and Quail Summit, Canandaigua, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Ontario County Health Facility.
Keating is survived by his loving wife Virginia; four children Deane (Dennis) Kellogg, Peggy (Peter) Kane, Casey (Sheila) Coniff and Jeff (Amber) Coniff; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several wonderful nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sisters Peggy Wayman and Connie Coniff.
Keating was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1922 and raised in Bronxville. After high school he attended Cornell University but left before graduation to join the Army Air Force. Prior to leaving for the military he married his childhood sweetheart Virginia Johnson with whom he celebrated his sixty-fifth wedding anniversary this spring. After the war he worked over forty years as an engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Connecticut. He also built luxury homes in the Westport, Connecticut area. His major hobby was the training of pointers and setters for field trials and he developed many award winning dogs.
The family is planning a memorial service at a later date and interment will be private.
