My Dear Uncle Chick, I will always remember the times we had AND laughs that you, I and Aunt Dee Dee shared when you took me in as your very own child. I was a young pregnant mom and you both made sure I had a doctor, a home and a family!!! For that I will ever be eternally grateful. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten and until we see each other again, I LOVE YOU ALWAYS!!!

The Marine stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass, He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, you Marine, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? TO my church have you been true?" The Marine squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough, And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep... Though I worked a lot of overtime When the bills got just too steep, And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear, And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place Among the people here, They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand, I never expected or had too much, But if you don't, I'll understand." There was a silence all around the throne, Where the saints had often trod, As the Marine waited quietly, For the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, you Marine, You've borne your burdens well, Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets, You've done your time in Hell." (Author unknown) Semper Fidelis, Uncle Chick. I will always have a special bond with you; not only because of the kind and amazing man that you were, but because we are both Marines. That is not something that most people understand; but to those of us who do, we know just how much the bond means. I have no doubt that you are up in Heaven, praising our Lord and looking down on the rest of us. Thank you for the times my husband, daughter, and I were able to spend with you. The laughing, the crying, you scaring us, and offering advice. I love you, forever, and always. Love, Heather

"Those of us who have had the privilege of serving in the Marine Corps value our experience as among the most precious of our lives. The fellowship of shared hardships and dangers in worthy cause creates a close bond of comradeship. It is the basic reason for the cohesiveness of Marines and for the pride we have in our corps and our loyalty to each other". Howard F. Stoddard Jr. was proud of his Corps and believed it to be second to none. He was loyal to his comrades and to the Marine Corps, adhering always to the motto Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful)
Last Verse of the Marine Corps Hymn
"Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve.
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes,
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines."
Howard F. Stoddard Jr., received his orders on May 29, 2015 and has reported for Duty.
Semper Fidelis
Rest in Peace, my brother. We will all miss you greatly, you will always be remembered for the great man that you are.
