Charles A. Laske
Canandaigua- Charles Laske, 97, passed away May 3, 2015 at Thompson Health.
Charlie was born April 11, 1918, in Rochester. He was brought up during the Depression by his mother, a Polish Immigrant, and remembered going to bed hungry many nights.
He graduated from Edison Technical School and shortly after married his wife, Kay. They were married for 60 years and had four children. They moved to Cheshire from the town of Greece in the 1970s. For many years he worked at American Brake Shoe and then took a position at Haloid, now Xerox, and retired as a Forman of the machine shop at age 57.
Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman and for many years held an annual Fathers Day Fishing Contest at his home for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His hobbies included woodworking, making bowls, shaker baskets, toys, and home accessories as gifts for family and friends.
Charlie is survived by his children, Diane (Bob) Sickmond, Bloomfield, Linda (Jim) Dye, Walworth, Larry (Terre) Laske, San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 12 great great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and a daughter in-law, Phyllis Laske.
He was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn; son, Fred Laske and 2 grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday, May 8, from 4-5 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 5 p.m. memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
