Obituary of Jack Moore
Pastor Jack Nelson Moore (born Leo Nelson) age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2014.
Jack was born on November 12, 1924 in Poland Center, New York to Ingeborg and Leo Nelson. He was a WWII veteran, having joined the army after high school and serving in France with the 13th Airborne Division.
He married his wife June in 1947 and began as a clerk with Trans-American trucking company. Jack was successful in business and was promoted to manager in the Chicago office. Later, he and his growing family moved to Dayton, Ohio where he worked for EF McDonald Incentive Company. In 1974, he accepted a promotion to regional manager of western New York, and moved the family to Canandaigua.
A lifelong Christian and lay leader, Jack soon entered full time ministry and remodeled a chicken coop on his property to start United Fellowship Church. Through his connections at Elim Bible Institute, he had the opportunity to travel throughout India, Africa and Europe sharing his love for Christ and ministering to the sick and spiritually oppressed.
Throughout his time in Canandaigua, he also enjoyed working with Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International, and leading Bible studies at the Ontario County Health Facility and Auburn Correctional Institution.
Jack had a love for creating art and dabbled in carving, painting, stained glass and sculpture.
After being asked many times to record the many miracles he had witnessed in his travels, Jack worked with Marlene Spalding to write Power Serve.
Jack will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 67 years, June, by his children Dennis Moore (Jan ), Jim Moore (Sylvia), Mary Louise Freda (Ed), Nancy Moore (Dan Richter), and by 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
His many friends will miss his contagious smile, the hugs he freely gave and watching him joyously play with children and animals.
