I can remember coming over to your parents house over 20yrs ago when you, Bundy, Brian & Josh would be down in the basement working out I would sit down there & talk to you guys waiting for you to finish so we could go chill. R.I.P Mike. Say Hello to My Dad & Eric for me.. I'm sure you guys are talking about the good old days when you guys used to all hang out at O'henry's and the creek.

Dear Bill, Leigh and Nicole,
I can not imagine how sad you are right now. I was taken back to read in the paper of Mike's death.
I had the priviledge of working with both Nicole and Michael in both Jr. High and High School. Both were always polite and attentive in class.
Mike was more the quiet one but that didn't mean he wasn't paying attention. I remember in Jr. High he and some other boys chasing each other down the hall just giggling and enjoying each other like little boys not yet ready to be all serious and grown up. It was nice to see them having a good time just being silly.
In high school Mike was in my first period Computer Graphics Class. I found out very quickly Mike was NOT a morning person! As always before class I stood outside my classroom and greeted each student as they arrived with a "Good Morning" and of course I expected a response. Mike walked by not saying a word. The next morning as he approached I stood in front of the open door and said "Good Morning, Mike." I think I really surprised him and he couldn't get by.....he finally said Good Morning. Every day from that point on he would always mumble "Morning". I figured that was the best I could hope for that early in the morning!
It was nice in Video class to see him work in the teams with other students. It was great to see that the team he was on won an award for their claymation.
I know he and Nicole were very close which is not always the case when kids are teenagers. I remember Nicole coming in to class late after having to defend her (little----I need to say younger since he grew to be such a tall guy) brother.Angry with him at times but defending him anyway. In talking with either of them individually from time to time it was evident they were very supportive of each other and had a close relationship. I do remember one time when Mike told me Nicole was bring a friend home from college...he just groaned....I think he didn't want to share Nicole with these "other people" while she was home.
I had the occasions to talk with Mike about his interest in computers and was very impressed that he was actually building one a little at a time as he earned money for the parts.
None of these events were outstanding... they were just times shared in the course of getting to know Mike through the years. He was his own person, quiet but if challenged would stand up for what he thought.
I will always have good thoughts of him and smile as I think of him watching him grow from a little boy to a young man as he went through his school years.
You are all in my prays. Sadly Saturday I am working and can not join you but I will be thinking of you and Michael.
Sincerely,
Michele Fernaays
