JOHN H. KURZEJESKI
STANLEY: "Big John" is gone. John H. Kurzejeski passed away peacefully on Dec. 9. 2012 after a long battle with respiratory disease at the age of 87. He was born in Twin Rocks, PA on August 8, 1925. John grew up in Canandaigua and served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WW-2.
He retired from the NYSDOT and was a very popular, well respected and trusted police officer in Canandaigua for many years. He went out of his way to help people whenever he could and served as a role model for many children in the city.
Survivors include his children John H., Michael, John M. and Margaret Kurzejeski and Stacie Cooley, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, his brother Joseph Kurzejeski and several nieces and nephews.
At Big John's request there will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church on Friday, Dec. 14, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. It has been suggested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the American Lung Association Finger Lakes Region, Inc., 1595 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14620.
