Margaret P. Canali
Margaret (Pietropaolo) Canali, 94, formerly of Gorham Street, Canandaigua, died peacefully, February 26, at West Woods of Niles, Niles, Michigan.
Margaret was born in Sinopoli, Italy, in September 1919, to Santa and Salvatore Pietropaolo. The family emigrated to Canandaigua in 1928. Although she spent her later years in Arlington, Virginia, and Granger, Indiana, she considered herself a lifelong Canandaiguan.
Margaret graduated from St. Marys School, Canandaigua Academy and Rochester Business Institute. She was employed by Sibleys in Rochester and then Rochester Gas & Electric in Canandaigua from 1941 to 1946. She was a member of St. Marys Church, where she was active in the Rosary Altar Society. For many years she enjoyed helping with the Parish Festival. Margaret also volunteered at Thompson Hospital Gift Shop as a member of the FF Thompson Guild.
She loved to bake, garden, play bridge, cook for and spend time with her family and friends. She and her husband belonged to the Shufflers Dance Club in Canandaigua. Margaret kept a daily journal for most of her adult life.
She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses: Peggy and John Bolstetter, Granger, Indiana, and Anne Marie and Richard Hermann, Arlington, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Cora Canali; former daughter-in-law, Connie Canali; nine grandchildren: David (Jessica) Hermann, Brianne (Jeff) Sisneros, Meghan (Chad) Valentine, Gia Canali (Matthew Manus), Elizabeth (West) Smith, Jaclyn (Brian) Divine, Reva Canali, James Canali, and Jordyn Canali; and eight great- grandchildren; her sisters: Theresa Lacognato, Canandaigua, and Josephine Spencer, Amherst, New York; her brother: Rocco (Patricia) Pietropaolo, Canandaigua; her sisters-in-law: Lucy Geise, Rosalie Polimeni, and Ellen Polimeni, all of Canandaigua; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, James Canali, her son, Anthony Canali, her brother, James Pietropaolo, and several sisters and brothers -in-law: Margaret Pietropaolo, David Spencer, Bernard Lacognato, Josephine and Dominic LeGrett, Dominic and Margaret C.Canali, Mary and Sebastian Megale, Ann Canali, John Geise, Jeanne and James Newell, John Polimeni and Vincent Polimeni.
Friends may call at the Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, Friday, March 21, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Margarets Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Saturday, March 22, at 10:00 with private burial in Calvary Cemetery.
