Our Services

Funeral Services

We will assist your family in planning a funeral and choosing the options that suit your families needs and your loved ones wishes. We are able to assist you in holding services in a wide variety of areas. From our chapel, to your church or at the cemetery we are able to prepare a meaningful service to honor your loved one. We will listen to your family and help to arrange a celebration of your loved one's life through whatever means you choose.  Some things to consider in the personalization of a funeral service might be photo displays.  We have framed poster boards on which to display a collage of your favorite snapshots depicting the life of the deceased.  Following services, the collage board will be returned to you.  Memorabilia displays are an excellent way to personalize.  Golf clubs, trophies, samplings of a favorite collection, quilts, bird houses or whatever symbolizes the interests of the deceased.  Background music during visitation does not need to be limited to the canned "elevator" music so often heard.  Big Bands, country, zydecko, jazz- any type of music is appropriate.  Our local florists will help you design the appropriate floral tributes.  Every honorably discharged Veteran is entitled to graveside military honors.  There are rites performed by various fraternal groups.  All of these can and should be part of the funeral service.  The Fuller Funeral Home staff will assist you in achieving a service personalized to your loved one.

In addition to funeral services our staff also provides the following services.

Online Memorials

We can set up an online memorial for your loved one. Our online memorials provide information for guests about the funeral services and also provide a tribute to your loved one. Because there is no charge for this service and no limit to the number of lines used, a family can expand what is generally seen in a newspaper death notice.  Guests will be able to gain information about dates, times and locations of funeral services. Guests will also be able to order flowers, make donations and sign a guest book through the memorial. The family will have access to the memorial to add photos to create a photo gallery for their loved one. By providing information to guests about services, our online memorials help lessen the load on a family during a difficult time. The memorials also serve to pay tribute to your family's loved one.

Obituaries

We will prepare an obituary to be published for your loved one. Our local newspapers, the Daily Messenger, Finger Lakes Times and Democrat & Chronicle all charge for this service.  The funeral home will pay the newspaper on the family's behalf and this charge will appear on the funeral bill.  An average cost for an obituary is approximately $350-$400.

Veteran's Benefits

We will help you secure your potential veterans benefits, such as burial flags, government markers, memorial certificate and a burial plot. Verification of military service is needed to apply.  The most common document is the veteran's DD-214.

Social Security

We will notify the Social Security Administration of the death. We will explain and help you apply for any benefits you may be entitled to through Social Security.

Death Certificates

We will help you in obtaining certified copies of the death certificate which can be important for insurance purposes as well a host of other issues. Certified copies are considered legal proof of death.  The original death certificate is issued, most often, by the attending physician, completed by the funeral director who then files the certificate at the appropriate registrar's office.  At that time certified copies, copies affixed with the raised seal of that district, are either obtained or ordered.  Presently, the cost of certified copies are $10 each.  However, if the death occurs in Monroe County, copies are $30 each.

After Care

Sometimes the loss of a loved one can be especially painful. We understand that the grieving process does not end with the funeral. We are here not only to help arrange the funeral, but to help families cope with the loss of their loved one. There are a wide variety of grief resources available and we will help to point you in the right direction and begin the healing process.
